Vocalist, trumpet player songwriter and producer Andrea Capozzoli is a force to be reckoned with on the modern music scene. Named 2004 "Female R&B Artist of the Year" at the New York International Music Festival, Andrea has gained great acclaim for her powerful energetic performances.
She has opened for the likes of Sister Sledge and Jessica Simpson, and has shared the stage with Slide Hampton, Bernard Purdie, Sean Jones and Erik Kloss among others. Andrea had the honor of performing at the Boston Inaugural celebration for Barack Obama and also has done events for the Kennedy family and Senator John Kerry.
Andrea is on faculty at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in the voice department. " Originally from Pittsburgh, Andrea studied with Maureen Budway and while at Berklee studied with Kevin Mahogany, Cheryl Bentyne of Manhattan Transfer and Mili Bermejo.
Andrea's live shows whip the crowd into an grooving frenzy, mixing popular Soul/R&B and covers of artists such as Jill Scott, Chaka Khan, and India Arie with her original material. Her recent appearances include the nationally syndicated Joey Reynolds radio show, Different Voices TV appeareance aired on Time Warner Cable in NYC, The Chris Tabb Show (MA), The Blue Note (NY), SIP Lounge (NY), Mojo Blues Bar ( Copenhagen, Denmark), Nykobing Festival (Nykobing Falster, Denmark), The Bitter End (NY), Ashford & Simpson’s Sugar Bar (NY), The National Underground (NY), The Shrine (NY) Chris’ Jazz Café (Philly), Twins Jazz Club (DC) and The Loft @ Tommy Doyle's (MA), Club Café (Pittsburgh) among many others.
Andrea is a triple threat, seamlessly switching between vocals, trumpet and piano; she is also the sole writer and producer of all tracks on the album.
In recent news, Andrea's song Make Up Your Mind has hit #1 three times on the ISB Radio Show ( Harlem, NY) and has been the longest standing song to remain in the top ten for over six months.
